LS Turbo questions

I wuz thinkin of gettin a teg or hatch an throw a B18b an turbocharging it. Will tha motor be able to run on 7-8 lbs of boost on stock internals daily driven? Also wut iz tha probability of tha motor blowing and at wut RPM? Iz 6000 RPM tha same in a N/A motor as it iz in a turbocharged one or iz tha turbo motor more likely to blow?

Re: LS Turbo questions

I know you don't have the car yet.. but you should consider the mileage. Higher miles is going to weaken the motor. With a smaller mitsubishi turbo i would say that 7-8 psi should be ok. I have heard it isn't good to run under a lot of boost for long periods of time. So jamming down the freeway at 6000+ rpms under boost for long periods of time could potentially damage your engine.

yea tha high miles i know will matter, but thats tha reason i wanted to swap tha motor for a JDM B18b (if i didnt mention tha JDM earlier which shouldnt matter too much) so for now i want to assume that it wont have too many miles (maybe around 60k if thats ok). And another question, what should I be runnin (1/4 mile) wit only tha bolt-on turbo. Also i dont really plan to go all out on mah car or anything like that. I say tha furthest i will go for now iz mid-low 13s on a 1/4 mile (iz that possible jus usin 8 lbs of boost). Im also gunna add other stuff like I-H-E and some bigger injectors and maybe a lil more to keep mah motor safe frm detonation. Any tips? thx for any help

Yes. Low. Yes. No.

I'm going to assume that if you're still using iz, tha, wuz, etc, you're probably in high school, or not far out of it. I'm going to go ahead and say hold off on a turbo B-series while you're still on the I want to show my friends how cool and big I am phase.
