the radar detector is a receiver that detects the radio waves cops use in their radar guns. the radar jammer is a transmitter and transmits false signals that imidate the signal their radar guns use.

The BEST detector on the market is the Passport X50. Retails for about 300, but you can find them online for about 30 less. Ive got one and it is crazy good. On the open freeway i can pick up bacon miles away. It also has a pretty good "false alarm" blocker on it to prevent it from going crazy in town. It has the best in class K, KA, X, and Laser detection, and one of the best VG2 Cloakin systems out there. It also has like 3 different display modes, one of which can display up to 9 signlas at the same time, allowing you to decide what is the most threatning. I would go with this one over the Valentine because it looks better, performs better, and costs less.

Actually, the Valentine1 or V1 is the ABSOLUTE best. It has been proven by Car and Driver. Also, the V1 has arrows that show where the cops are and a number which tells you how many. My bro-in-law has one in his porsche and it is awesome. I also am not selling it, i just like it alot, but i think its around 400.

Well, the V1 was the best until the X50 came out...car and driver most recently voted the X50 better than the V1...so did like 5 other companies that rate detectors. The V1 is still very good...but isnt up to par with the X50. Plus, those arrows only work when there is a single signal...if there is a cop in front of you, and a convinience store to both sides of you, three arrows will light up, pretty much making the arrows useless. (And the whole unit looks like it was from the 80's) And is also 100$ more

I have the X50 and it in my opinion the best out there it has saved my ass so many times. the only thing that the v1 has on it is true 360 detection but i have found that i recieve my warnings from every direction. i'll even pass a cop with his radar on and i will be picking it up for a good distance when i pass him, i also pick up radar when they flip it on a good distance behind me too.

my advise get the X50 its $100 less and does the same if not better job then the v1 .

The X50 does have 360 detection. That little sensor on the top left is a rear detector. It isnt quite as strong as the front, but it is plenty strong to smell the "5-0" before they smell you...suckers!

Re: radar

I saw this Radar detector/jammer that was very cool in Modified Magizine i belive. It is a very stealth system that builds into your car so its not just hanging out on your dash. The Jamming unit went on the top of the front licence plate cover as well as the back. They tested it out on an evo and they could detect a signal from like over a mile. The unit sold for like over a 1000 dollars though, but man, it would so be worth it .

As good as that may sound, think about it this way. Let's say that you are runnin on an open stretch of Highway with nothing around...in an EVO pushing in we will say he's doing 150mph....now, a mile will creep up on you in about 25 or so seconds....and by the time you slow down you are probably still speeding in the range of the radar...you will see the cop before it goes off more than likely. On a highway i have picked up cops at least 4 or 5 min in advance.....so, if im doing 70 because i know they are there then thats a good 4.5 miles that i know they are there. A mile is not that great a range at highway speeds....and even if the jammer works, flyin past a trooper in a Z28 Camaro doing 120 will get you pulled over no matter what his gun says. Sure you might not get a ticket because his gun says otherwise...but your car will probably be impounded until they find the jammer...my advice is that jammers are a very scetchy thing to use if you plan on being an idiot. Plus, even if you arent speeding the jammer will still make the gun go crazy, probably resulting in a useless pull-over.

Re: radar

you also have to remember that a jammer will screw with a cops radar. so if youre on the interstate where the speed limit is 70, and he his radar shows you going 40, then he knows something is up and hes going to stop you anyway
