Another knocking Question

Have 97 Trooper with 3.2 SOHC. Has loud tap on passenger side of motor. Ive changed oil added Sea Foam. No change. Ive pulled spark plug wire one at a time . Same noise persists. Ive seen on this board about timing belt may be slapping cover due to loose tesioner. How big a job is it to pull the cover? I also havn't been able to find a manual for 97 Trooper. Thanks. Steve

It's not hard. Probably the trickiest thing to do is pulling the harmonic balancer. The rest is just removing parts until you get to what you need and then remembering where they go back.

Re: Another knocking Question

i think the timing belt tensor is on that side. When it starts to fail it sounds like knocking.
