Am I really gaining any more horsepower, just by puttin on a Flowmaster 40 series muffler? I have a 94 Cavalier with the 3.1 V6.

Re: horsepower

With just a muffler? Ya, you probably are. Maybe 1, 1.5 if your lucky. Do a full exhaust and you could get 15+.

Really, wow, I put a header, high flow cat and 2.25" piping to a muffler tip on the back on my cavalier.

Would that really increase my car 15 HP?

Guessing at numbers is pointless. You shouldn't ever try to make horsepower claims on your car until you've taken it to a dynojet somewhere. Nothing's worse than someone making outrageous HP claims w/o actually being able to back any of it up.

Re: horsepower

^Agreed.

That's why I am always very conservative when guessing horsepower gains.

Yeah, I;m guessing that the exhaust helped, but Im sure that it didn;t increase 15 HP

without going back and reading the posts, for say you buy a Pacesetter header, high flow cat, a good muffler and 2.25" piping.. i can see 10-15hp no problem.
