Aww man, what?! Oil Leak!
Damn! Haven't put it up on a lift yet.. But I can see on my driveway I have a engine oil leak coming from the back of the motor. First thought was rear main seal, but what about the 4x4 oil cooler lines/filter relocation? It freaked me into thinking it was the RMS, because it looks like its dripping from the torque converter cover.. but that dosen't mean anything really... Anyone deal with this yet on their trucks? Whaddya find. Thanks!

Re: Aww man, what?! Oil Leak!
I doubt it is the rear main. On my 90 K1500, it was the oil filter adapter O-ring. Felpro sell a kit that contain the O-ring and gasket. It could also be an oil cooler line.

Re: Aww man, what?! Oil Leak!
Out of curiousity, why do you think it might be an oil cooler line if you see it leaking by the bell housing (torque conv. cover)? Reason I ask is because I have a very slight leak by the bell housing and/or rear of the motor. I automatically assumed rear main seal and just like you I'm thinkin' "damn it"! Also, I can't think of oil cooler lines being near this area.

Re: Aww man, what?! Oil Leak!
It could be coming from the oil pan gasket. Couldn't hurt to change that while you're down there.

Nice. Thats what I was thinking... I'll swing by Advance Auto or "Never Any Parts Availble" to see if they got that fel-pro kit. My boss mentioned this morning, the oil stain in my company parking lot space, i'm next to his brand new shiny black '05 BMW 745iL... haha I love it.. Today the truck's totally covered in mud from a romp through the woods over the rainy weekend. He's gotta think i'm a complete hick, and i'm the IT Director!
Thanks guys - I'll let you know how I make out, and if I find my damn camera, I'll try to get a photo walkthrough since i bet a bunch of you have this issue as well.

any way to just take this off and put the oil filter on the block? mine is leaking too but the oil cooler lines are not attached to a cooler.i never tow heavy loads so will it hurt to just get rid of the adapter?
