I've got a 96 Jeep Cherokee with a chrysler 2.5 liter 4 banger. I'd like to put my 94 s10 Blazers 4.3 liter v6 in it. Also, I'd like to change out my tranny from the jeep manual 5 speed to a chevy manual 5 speed. What are my options. And can this be done?

Re: ???? 2.5 liter to 4.3 liter engine swap ????
Advance Adapters makes a block to trans adapter...it requries at least 3" of suspension lift. Hard part is electronics, but if you are hell bend on doing it, it can be done.

Re: ???? 2.5 liter to 4.3 liter engine swap ????
I dont think i will fit. why would you put a chevy engine in a jeep? I have nothing aginst chevy. i love them. If you wanted, you could put a 4.0L engine in there. O.E. I just would not put a chevey engine in a jeep. i guess thats how i am.

I understand that, but.....
I can understand why someone wouldn't want to put a chevy engine in their jeep. But, I was a chevy man (1991 Chevy Silverado 4x4 ext cab with a 5.7 liter v8) before I ever bought my first jeep, and I have no complaints about my jeep. But could you imagine the surprise on someones face who has a 4.0 when I pull up and smoke 'em in my 4.3. I just think it would make for a hell of a combo. What do you think????

Re: ???? 2.5 liter to 4.3 liter engine swap ????
Not sure if there is room for it, but then againm nothing is impossible with enough $$$. From what I know to even change to the 4.0 you will have to change the engine mounts and all of the electronics. With it being a 96' I'm not sure how it would all work out. One idea is to go carburated and self contained distibutor on the chevy engine that way you can bypass all the electronics, but a 96' the speed-o is elctronic, unless you can rig the sensor to work with the chevy tranny. Personaly, sell the 96 and get you an older CJ-7 and drop your chevy into that. Much easier.

Re: ???? 2.5 liter to 4.3 liter engine swap ????
I was going to ask a simular question. Did'nt some earlier model jeeps come with a chevy built 6? I was wondering something along the same line but with a 3.8L V6. Would a trans swap be necessary? I am currently running a 2.5L and I'm just not impressed with it.

Re: ???? 2.5 liter to 4.3 liter engine swap ????
well. the 4.0 with 3.11 gears can smoe all neons, not the srt-4. i would take my parents 4.0 aginst a 4.3 anyday. it all has to do with the gearing though.
