miles per gallon

i was wondering what everyone gets for gas mileage?? a guy i work with has a 88 1 ton duelly with a 454 and he says he gets 15 miles per gallon!!! now if it were anyone else i would say bull shit! but this guy knows too much for his own good and he never lies... i want to know what every one else gets....please reply

Thats some BS! my 90 454ss only gets 9.5 miles per gallon, but i do drive fast everywhere.... My 95 chevy with a 350 got 20 miles per gallon with all the mods i did to it.

75% city 25% highway on my 97 I get any where from 13.5(cold weather) to 16.5(warm weather). My 1986 4x4 with 3.08 rearend and 305 V8 gets 20 mpg on highway.

My 1997 1500 with the vortec 350 gets 17 on the highway and 12 in town. My thought is, you bought a pickup for a hauling, not for getting good mileage.

1994 350 TBI w/mods - 16mpg/highway

1992 305 TBI Stock - 18mpg/highway

Its hard to get a good number for around town driving... I definitely have a lead foot.

My '88 350tbi w/ 3.08 gears gets over 18mpg. And I drive like a madman.

'74 454...3-4 mpg in the city & 5-6 on the highway.

And that's in a 6,900 lb Chevy on 44" TSL's and 1+ ton everything.

so my truck gets 10 miles per gallon in town... i never use the freeway... is this bad??? how can i change this? i got an intake, exhast, hypertech power charger and a spacer

Depends on how fast you're moving and how long you're sitting at a stoplight. With my 350, I get about 10mpg going 45-55 with no stops.

10 in town isn't bad at all really considering my 88 gets about 8 in town.....but i have loud pipes and they REALLY sound good going downtown between the tall buildings!!!
