Thumbs up Niki Lauda Ferrari 1977 new painting

Hello
here is my new oil painting, depicting Niki Lauda taking the Parabolica at Monza 1977. He finished second behind Andretti and so clinched his second championship.

Difficult to say, I have several paintings in progress at any one time because oils take time to dry. Perhaps a week to 10 days on and off.

wow, that looks great, but there is something wierd with it that I can't put my finger on. Shadow positioning? Perspective? The angle of the speed lines? Tires? Hmmm... Maybe someone else could back me up with this.

Nice piece!!
One thing looks weird, I don't know exactly...There seems to be no downforce, or the car is not moving vertically parallel to the road(within a front view, one end will be higher than the other), the speed of the car is not proportional to the car.
Its a nice artwork, keep them coming!

Re: Niki Lauda Ferrari 1977 new painting

The reason it looks weird is because the front right (front drivers perspective) tire is smaller than the left, and the front wing is not parallel to the rear. The left is forward and the right is back.

Also, the front wing sticks out further on the left side of the car than the right.

With respect I believe you are confusing isometric projection with vanishing-point perspective. Lines that are parallel on the car such as the wings when drawn in perspective are not parallel but are convergent upon a vanishing point on the horizon. In addition the front wing of this car is mounted relatively high on the nose and so appears shifted higher up the painting.

I assure you my initial drawings and measurements are conducted with the utmost rigour and any perceived irregularities will be found to exist also in the source photographs.

correct me if i am wrong but the direction of the car in relation to the speed lines on the ground is a little off.

other than that ace painting!
