Clock Pod Light

A while back I tried to change the color of my clock pod light by painting the bulb with a sharpe (which i don't reccomend because the ink fades extremely quick) but the color remained orange. Someone later told me there is an orange film behind the display. Does anyone know how to remove this film? I have removed the pod but cant figure out how to get behind the actual display screen because of many small metal pieces connecting to it.
