Cool SR20DET, is it hard to swap with ga16

wassup, hey im looking to swap my ga16 with a sr20det. I would like to know if it is hard, if there is any additional wiring involved, engine mounts moved, anything. Is it worth it. I think it is, i have wanted a sr20det for years now. So if anyone knows and is willing to tell me that would be sweet!!!!

Re: SR20DET, is it hard to swap with ga16

im not sure about interchangeability but dont get a sr20de get a sr20ve or sr16ve. little more $$ but the sr20ve has STOCK a min. of 43 hp more than a 2001 roller-rocker sr20de

(by the way the V means variable intake cam timing, similar to VVTL-i on toyotas)

Re: SR20DET, is it hard to swap with ga16

if your gonna boost get a sr20de
sr20de engines dont rev all that well and they dont breathe all that well either but they do handle boost quite well

Uhhh, 7500rpm isn't revving well? The DE is a killer engine for the price and could easily get any sentra into the mid 14's. Why would you recommend a 16ve over a 20de? You'd end up paying $700 more for the SR16 and end up with less torque and a narrower power band that would only tie or slightly improve on the DE's 1/4 times.

Re: SR20DET, is it hard to swap with ga16

sr20de revs ok but im comparing to other similar class motors i.e. sr16ve, b16a, b18c, ect.

btw when i say revs well i dont mean it can go to a certain rpm
im talking about how much power is available up at 7500 rpm

the usdm sr20de revs to 6600 and there is no benefit to raising the redline. you gain next to no power after that point.

yes this is true on a stock SR20. revs to 7500, but peak power starts sliding down@ 6300. here is some info http://www.se-r.net/about/sentra_se-r/specs.html

Re: SR20DET, is it hard to swap with ga16

But in the first few gears, there IS a point in revving higher than 6400rpm(the true peak), because even tho the power starts to drop off after 6400, there is still more power above it than below it. Shifting at 6400rpm would drop you into too low of rpms for the next gear. All I'm saying is, as far as $300 engines go, you can't beat the DE.
