Changing box
Guys i have a 1988 sierra with a 8 foot box....i was thiinkin of changing it to a 6 foot.. there soooo much nicer what would i need to do i never really measured it but what would i have to do..... do i have to make the drive shaft smaller or dose it fit perfect? alot of work?>

wow , that would be a whole lot of work.first off different frame, so lets just cut the frame and weld it back together, ok now all brake ,fuel and electrical is too long,cut those reconnect wait , gas tank wont fit , off to the wreckers get a new tank and brackets, now finally a new driveshaft, but now you need a vehicle inspection because you modified your frame. sell it and buy a short box,it's not like they are rare so it would be easier and save you a bus load of money.the reason i know all of this is because i build custom frames for air suspension.

I have seen this type of conversion on older trucks... It requires cutting a section out of the frame, welding it back together, and using the cut out section as a reinforcement on the frame (basically, the section spans the weld and is the welded in place). I definitely think you would be better off trading the truck in and getting another one.
