95 GMC Safari Conversion

I have a bad tranfer case that makes noise once and awhile and can't replace it right now. I was told by a gentleman that I could disconnect the front driveshaft of transmission on this vehicle and it should help the problem. Is there any truth to this. And also I replace my driverside torsion bar a year ago and now the passenger side broke while the van has been sitting in my driveway. (haven't driven it in a yr) Is it safe to drive vehicle to get it to a shop. Thank You
