I have a 99 Taurus 3.0V6 The door locks have not worked for over a year now and I have tryed everything I can think of. The strange thing was that all 4 went at once. I replaced the fuses and relays, but no luck. I also saw a white box next to the relay pannel under the steering colum. Is this a distrubitor of some type?
It also has the check engine light on w/ error code 401 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow insuffcient Detected). I tryed to clean the sensor but busted 2 ratchets trying to get it off. Anyone know a better way to go about this? |

Re: 99 Taurus Going Downhill
The P0401 is more than likely the DPFE sensor. Ford has an updated one to replace it.As for the door locks, check to see if you have current going to the master switch. If no current, find wire under the dash inside left kick panel and see if there is current there. If there is current under the dash, the wire is broken inside the door somewhere. Good luck.

for the PO401 it is a possible EGR Valve or EVP sensor and the door locks can be inoperatve due to a drivers side or passenger side multiplex unit in the door or under the dash which is the white distribution box you are talking about
