Whining on left turns

I have noticed that sometimes my GP whines, especially when taking left turns. I'm not talking about the normal whine as the engine revs up, but a much louder one. I have looked under the hood at belt and hoses, but can't find anything noticable. Can anyone give me some pointers?

How many miles on your GP and what year, model is it? Have you checked the power steering fluid level?
