Window Regulator parts

I have power windows and last week, the driver's side front window finally gave out on me. It had a history of rolling up like a slug and sticking short of all the way up. I heard a piece fall down so I took the inner paneling off and found the fallen piece. It is a plastic cable guide that fits around a round metal peg of some kind at the top and bottom of the door. The top one has the collar that slides around this peg, but the one in question split in half at this collar. Everything else is in god working order. I have 2 questions:

1) I have to re-install the cable ends onto the motor assembly-do I need to have the window in a specific position to make this easier, or can i remove it to make room to work with?

2) WHERE ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH CAN I FIND THE PLASTIC CBLE GUIDE??? I think the dealers are full of **** but they tell me I have to buy the whole damn regulator for around $152. NO WAY FOR A DAMN CHUNK OF NYLON. I super glued the old one back together and I added a custom-formed piece (read MICKEY-MOUSED) of plastic to the underside of the collar and used some clever little tacks to hold it in place, and then used more super glue to bond the two pieces together. I'm confident that this will suffice BUT if the piece I want is available, it can't cost more than 5 dollars (for just the chunk of plastic that it is, it had better not!!!!). If I can get the replacement piece and it's reasonably priced I'd rather do that than use my contraption.

If anyone has any tips for re-doing this whole regulator assembly from a total disassembled state, i would apreciate it immensly. ALSO: isn't a Passport mechanically the twin of the Rodeo? So saying, couldn't I source this part from a Honda dealer as well??

Further news on this particular Rodeo.......132,600 miles, original timing belt (much to my dislike but the ride's not titled to me so I'm in the minority), alternator swap at approx. 127,000 miles and doing great, fan clutch crapping out on me now, catalytic converter needs replaced due to rust, knocks heard and felt in footboards when making turns, CV Boots replaced w/ split boots at about 126,000 and still perfect.......no really terrible issues though.

THANKS ALL!!!!!!

My switch went about a year ago (97 Rodeo 3.2L) The cheapest place is a junk yard or e-bay. You didn't say what year it was but I know my 97 is the twin of a 97 passport. Thoes are often eayser to find than Rodeos.

Window Regulator Parts

It's a real PITA to get anything small......dealers are all about selling you the next higher assembly. I went through this with the Y pipe on the exhaust, which I found elsewhere than a dealer for $350 less and ONLY the part I wanted, not the 3 piece asembly the dealer wanted to sell me.

Maybe a Honda dealership would sell the piece I want without the higher assembly BS??? I'll have to check into it.

Any tips for re-winding the cable onto the gears in the regulator? I figure I'll need to remove the glass from the rack to do it so I can have some room to work inside the door, but I'm not sure. Maybe there's more to remove that makes it easier.

Re: Window Regulator parts

I don't think you can buy the little plastic piece. You can get a new regulator cheaper online.
