Unhappy pcs light

I have a problem with my car . my pcs light, servive vehicle soon light, and trac off light are on. When I start the car they aren't on but about 30 sec. after I start driving they come on. I bought a chilton but it doesn't even metion pcs. I took it to a dealer and they hooked up a diagnostic reader and it told him the car had a transmission issue but it was ok to drive. I started looking around on the internet and found this site. I read throough all the topics in the intrigue section and found a discousion (post 330) that had pretty much the same problem as mine. If any one knows the soultion please let me know. You can even e-mail me [email protected] thanks

Re: pcs light

What was the code ? Also what year and model, GX, GL, GLS? Canada car? Is the ABS light on too?

I really wouldn't think it would be transmission related, if you can get the code I can look it up in my Helm factory service manual and get an exact description of what sets the code.

Re: pcs light

Are you having any problems with the transmission other than the PCS light is on? The reason I'm asking is that the PCS system should really not be tied into the transmission. That's why I don't understand why they say it's a trans issue, but PCM didn't generate a code? That's how they would know it was a trans issue - by the presence of a trouble code!

Furthurmore, if the PCS light or Trac Off light is on, the Body Control Module should also return a code.

If the dealer charged you for the diagnosis you should be entitled to know what trouble codes were stored by the BCM and the PCM. They should also be able to explain to you what is wrong with the car, other than "it has a trans issue but is ok to drive"

It kinda sounds like they're blowin smoke, or just don't want to get involved.

If you can have them read it again, and get all the stored trouble codes, I can help lead you in the right direction. It would probably have to be someone that has a GM tester, though. The generic OBD2 testers probably wont read BCM codes, just engine/trans codes.
