Question On Highway, Backfired then Died

Have a 95 2500 with a 454. I have 153,000 miles on it. I was on cruise control going down the Highway about 80 mph when the cruise kicked off, when I stepped on the gas it sputtered, backfired, and died. I am having it towed to a repair shop, but it is 100 Miles from home...

I was originally thinking fuel pump or timing chain...Oh boy.

Any thoughts on other problems, ignition, etc. Check engine light did not come on while driving, but did not have reader to check codes.

Re: On Highway, Backfired then Died

Sounds like your fuel pump went. A lean condition can cause a backfire. I am sure the repair shop will check the fuel pressure.
