Wet/Dry kit

was hanging out with a couple of guys and they started talking about putting nitrous on there vehicles and they mentioned dry kit and a wet kit. i dont plan on ever bottle feeding but just curious as to what the difference is between the both.

Re: Wet/Dry kit

A wet kit is when both fuel and n2o are injected. A dry kit is when n2o just gets dumped into your intake(bad).

Re: Wet/Dry kit

ok. i was wondering if some one was running nitrous how big of an impact will it have in a race? for example just say 220 hp eclipse versus 350hp eclipse, the 220 hp eclipse used nitrous who has a better chance of winning?

Re: Wet/Dry kit

zex had a deffinition page to help destinguish between the both.

dry kits are the easyist to install, they can be placed before the intercooler, onto the intercooler, or 6-8 inches before the TB. its the same basic ideah as h20/alc injection. it cools the charged air. though h20/alc injection gives a nice steam cleaning of carbon deposits and is really used for controling pre-ignition (knock) both are used to help volumetric, thermal, mechanical effency.

dry kits are widely popular to controle heat soak in smaller intercoolers, they are used infront of the TB too. improperly mounted, they can create puddling in/before the TB.

(if a car is tuned for a dry 35 shot and the no2 becomes puddled inside the uicp, elbow, or tb, all the extra no2 gets injected into the combustion chamber at the same time. on a tuned race engine that has caculated max volumetric effency with max piston speeds, bad bad things can happen)

wet kits are injected dirrectly into the runners on the intake manifold to correctly inject the amount of no2 into each combustion chamber, eliminating possable puddling and extra heat transfor from the TB/intake. both are effective tools if used and tuned correctly.

Re: Wet/Dry kit

I was wondering with a turbo set up, where would the best place to put a wet kit(not direct port).

Re: Wet/Dry kit

i've always been under the impression "wet kit" (being mixed with fuel at the time of injection) was the same thing as "dirrect port".

Re: Wet/Dry kit

The kit on my friends spyder injects fuel and n2o right into the intake. Maybe he just took a direct port kit and made it not like that. I will have to see the box when i go over their.

Re: Wet/Dry kit

There are plenty of nitrous FAQs around. The setup that isn't direct port usually has a single nozzle around the TB, somewhere before the runners of the intake separate.
