once had a super duty with a v10 eat up 1.5 quarts and it was only driven about 85 miles by a manager while it was in the shop.i popped open the air filter housing and no air filter to be found.the inside of the throttle body was coated in dirt and a peep inside the cylinders revealed scored cylinder walls. the truck did not smoke a bit nor was it running rough.the owner believed the truck had more power without the air filter and it was never caught by a tech because it was never in for service as the guy changed his own oil.it had about 39,000 miles if i remember corectly.ive only seen a couple of f-150's actually smoke out exhaust, and both those were due to stuck open pcv valve.also seen a focus running rough and smoking bad at 15,000 miles. turns out wal mart only added oil to the crank case without draining the old oil out. there was nearly 10 quarts of oil in that thing.
