Stalling on turn
'98 Transport has stalled a couple of times on me. It happens when making a right turn from a stop (pulling out of a shopping center). I push on the gas and everything goes dead. There is no power, all dash lights and radio go out. Shift to neutral and turn key to restart then everything comes back on and back to normal. Any ideas on this?
Thanks Rob |

This is all the info I know. It's happen twice to me and I know of once to the wife. These 3 times it was a right turn when every thing shut down. No electrical at all. All I did was shift to neutral and turn the key to start. I did not turn the key off before turning to start. It starts right up.

Re: Stalling on turn
Since you can see when you loose all electrical power because "all lights and radio go out", at what time does it return? You see all lights go out, then at one given time, you must see them come back? Is it before you turn the key to start again (like when rotating the steering back counterclokwise) , or just at the very time you turn the key to start?

All I do is turn the key to start and the van starts right up and then the electrical comes on. When this has happened to me I was pulling into traffic and did not have time to trouble shoot it. Then I don't even know where to start.

Re: Stalling on turn
Maybe the engine dies only....I have heard that the power steering pump locks up on hard turns which kills the engine. Don't know if thats possible or if it happens on the transport. If the problem is electrical then this wouldn't have anything to do with your problem.

Re: Stalling on turn
The sudden loss of power has me thinking that the alternative battery connector beside the left strut tower may be loose, try tightening it
