Turbocharging a 1989 325?

My friend wants to turbocharge his 1989 bmw 325. Now I was wondering how hard this would be on an older bmw and is it even possible? We had to mess around just to get the intake on it and the exhaust and now a turbocharger!!! Well if you know anyone that has done this on this type of car any help would be appreciated. Thanks
