gettin my monthy itch again
so about once a month i decide im gonna do this but i usually end up making my existing system better. but here is what im thinking now. get a suburban without the third row seats. (2000 or newer). 4 yup count em 4 XXX 15s or 18s and the kick ass amps to push em. what about the Diamond TDX 15s. those are sweet too. anyway, anyone know if a suburban is big enough for 4 18s? how many cubic feet would i be lookin to build? and what about the power? how many thousands of watts? whick amps? what kind of money? im really considering selling my car when i come back from deployment in 8 months and geting the burban. i want window shattering bass (heart stopping). im talkin kill small children and animals bass? just a thought, what do yall think?

Re: gettin my monthy itch again
I think it's a waste of money and instead of putting $3000 into a part of the system that reproduces less than 20% of the audio spectrum you should put it into the rest of the system so it will actually sound better.

Re: gettin my monthy itch again
nope not really, I refuse to promote the ridiculous amount of cars out there that have huge sub systems and sound like complete ass with anything other than rap.

SR20 is a SQ nerd don't listen to him. Get like 4 death penalty 15's and 2 20.1's. Port to 32hz in 16 cubes net firing up with ports up or back.

Re: gettin my monthy itch again
hmmmm....im with NSGM13....when i see pics of a suburban and proof of cash ill beleive this shit.... 4 XXX18's....my question is...why spend and extra grand on 2 more woofers that will only get you a few dB's louder and just consume more power which means you need more cash in your electrical system.
Chad at ascendnat put 2 Avalanche 18's in an 18cuft net enclsorue tuned real real low and put it in a SUV.... but jsut to play a 25Hz tone and make everything vibrate violently with just barely being able to hear the sound because the ava's have super low distortion.... Chad has weird ideas... |

Re: gettin my monthy itch again
i was under the assumption that the xxx was a sq sub. ive never heard one but i hear them mentioned all the time in this forum. figured not everyone can be wrong. especially with the audio knowledge in here. as far as getting the suburban and the money, its not a problem. my bank is navy federal credit union, i could go in and get a $30000 max loan right now as an E-4 (paygrade). and with the soldiers and sailors act no bank can charge me more than 6% interest on any kind of loan. of course its not gonna happen for 7 or 8 months because next week im leaving for southeast asia on deployment. should be pretty bad ass. i cant wait to go to japan and check out some of the new developments in car audio over there. maybe ill get some ideas.
hey fryman, i checked out the link. ya hit the nail on the head. that is exactly what i need (well, maybe not need, but definitly want) . but i dont know where to start as far as box building. i dont have the facilities to do it. i live on a ship but i certainly dont want a franchise car audio shop to do it but that is all that is around here. what to do? hey stang, will 16 cubes fit in the back of a burban without any extensive interior modification. and if there is plenty of room in it, do you think it would be a better idea to go with a smaller vehicle? perhaps something like a 4 runner. also, would the extra two subs really not make that much of a difference, i mean, i know it would have an audible difference but would i even be able to listen too it that loud. maybe i am over zealous about it. obviously i dont want to spend the extra money if its only going to give me a few extra dbs. and if done right, assuming i hook everything up perfect with the right wiring, the right amps and the right box oh and the alt and batteries (prolly need a couple of em) what kind of numbers do yall believe i could be hitting on the db meter. with 2, 3, or 4 subs. i know this might seem a little discredible, especially after my thread about the mini cooper. im sure stang remembers that one. man, i really jumped off the deep end there huh. but im honestly not just spitting out bull shit. i really want to do this. its time for a new vehicle. i decided a few days ago that my grand prix just isn't nice enough. dont get me wrong, its in great condition. but it is the low end grand prix, the se model and i just feel like if im gonna have a car that i can bring to a competition i need something with a little extra. the little things that my prix doesnt have. like leather seats for one, and rims instead of hubcaps. anyway, if you feel like this is BS then dont reply but i you happen to have any info that could be useful to me then feel free. i would appreciate it. once i get the substage figured out i will decide on mids and highs. maybe some 8s to beef up the mids since the lows will be so loud.

I'm not saying it IS BS...I'd just rather not waste my time until it's actually going to come to fruition.

Re: gettin my monthy itch again
my friend has a 4 woofer system. hes got 4 12" 800W pioneer Subs. 2 of them are always on and the other 2 are switched. so when he pulls up to stops signs or is showing off hits hits that switch, and you can tell the diiference, it vibrastes more and is a bit louder. ive never heard xxx 18's so i dont know if it would be the same case with them. but from what ive read that set up would give you some animal killing bass.

Re: gettin my monthy itch again
lmao, 1 XXX18 would kill 4 shitty pioneer 12's....
oh and the XXX is an SQ oriented sub, but it also gets very loud.... 64mm p2p with a very flat BL. but 4 of them wouldnt be "SQ" in any way.... |
