Unhappy check engine light

Hi there...I own a 2000 beetle , which I purchased it in Sept of last year...I love driving it, and it is a fun little car...but my check engine light has come on like 12-15 times since then...when they hook up their monitor in just under the steering wheel, it comes up with "system too rich" ...I just took it in on Monday, and the light is back on again....when I bought it , it had 32,000 kms, and has had a water pump put in, fuel pump relay, and a leak I forget where...I was just wondering did I just get a lemon ....or what. It has just over 40,000 km now. ..I owned a 99 intrepid before, and had no problems until I traded it in on this beetle....I am just very frustrated and was wondering if anyone else had problems with their 2000 or any year beetle like I have had. ..it is to the point , that I will trade it in if this keeps up... I have warranty till next fall, but this is ridiculous....anyway thanks for listening to me....

You might check with these guys about it. They have collected a long list of problems with the new beetles, along with some recommendations and fixes. There are a few doomcriers there (as you can tell by the name of the site) but they pass along a lot of good info about repairing and maintaining these cars.

System too rich- can be caused by leaky injectors (fuel injector cleaning service), bad maf sensor (vw extended warranty to 7yr 70k), faulty front o2 sensor (wa recall in us), cracked fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose, and other fuel related parts but mainly those.
