amp or amps

good ay guys, ok well im want to know how many amps im going to need. i want to run all my speaker and subs but im having trouble understanding the amps. Ok well i have two 4" in the front, and two 6x9" in the back also in the back are two 10" subs and a 12"sub for show. It all looks good but i would like to get them all working. I have one amp so far and it a 4 channel amp. Is this amp enough to run all of the speakers and subs or will i need another amp, if so what type 2/3/4 channel, and what setup would sound best. Thanks

Re: amp or amps

depends on how much you want to spend, but i sugguest you use the four channel for the four speakers, get two more amps for the subs, one one channel for the 12" and one two channel for the two 10"s.

Re: amp or amps

4 channel for the mids and highs. ditch the 12 unless it is the exact same as the tens (make and model). you will probably want to have them sealed too. if the subs are not the same, you will not get very good sq. that is my experience. i thought about running my infinitys and my p3s together but they are just too different and i wouldnt get nearly the result of 4 of the same 12" so i decided not to do it.

Re: amp or amps

i would keep all the subs, just have different amps for the 10s and 12s.

um well the subs i have are all kenwoods, so im not mixing different brands. So should i go get two more amps as well as the 4 channel one i have. my friends selling a 2 channel kenwood amp would if be good if i buy it for the two 10" subs. On another forum, a guy said i should hook the two subs and the 4" on the amp i have and run the 6x9 off the deck. Is this a good idea? Also when i have multiple amps, do i have to install multiple cables from the battery to the amp or can i join it to the previous amp. Thanks

Re: amp or amps

you can use the same power wire up to the amps but the main wire off the battery will need to be big enough to carry the power. once to get to the amps you will need to split the cable. (i dont mean unstrand it) buy a splitter. im not sure if you know what one is so ill explain, if you have 0/1 awg wire off the battery you will need to split it to 2 4 guage, double 0/1 to 2 2 awg wires, 4 awg to 2 8 awg wires and so on. and i would recommend getting new amps for the subs and keeping the 4 channel for the mids and highs. i dont know how much money you have to spend so if you cant get the extra amp im sure the other guys in here can help you wire it to get the best performance using two amps.
