Run in with an IS

Last night I was heading back to the house after my workout, but I decided it was a nice night, and decided to take the senic route back, which really means hopping on the highway for a bit. Had the windows down and sunroof open, and blating some ATB. I see a set of lights comming up on me pretty quick (as I was doing around 80), so I sped up so that we would end up pacing each other. Its a nice looking Lexus IS300, red, and a younger looking driver. I've been wanting to race one of these for a while, so I gun it a few times to get a little jump, letting him know I'm there. Problem is, I'm comming up to where I need to turn around, so I point to a gas station at this little turn around point, and signal him to follow. He does, and when we get to the gas station, I ask if he wants to race. He said sure, and I said lets turn around and head the other way, and when we hit the city limit/spped limit sign, we both punch it, and he agrees. We turn around, and we're both in the turn lane, him right behind me.

The light goes green, and we both kinda take off a little hard, and we're side by side doing about 45-50 right as we get to the 70mph sign. We both punch it, and I get a good jump right into third. We hold side by side till about 70, when I take a bit of a lead, and hold it up to 120, where I shut down about a half car to a car length infront of him. Man, 120 seems alot faster with the windows down. I drop back down to 70, and he gives me the thumbs up. I still have my windows down, and he rolls his down, and we drop back down to forty (highway is pretty empty at 9:30). I ask if he wants to go again, and he said sure. I say this time les go from 60, and he agrees.

I drop down to sixty, which is ust in the middle of thrid, perfect for me, and honk us down. On the third honk, we both gun it, and same results, except this time, I get an instant half car jump, and hold him at about a car length up to 120-125. We shut down, and since I'm comming up on my exit, I give him the thumbs up, he gives it back, and I slide in behind him so I can get my exit. Pretty good night for Cassie, finally got to try an IS300, so I'm happy with that.

Cliff Notes:
For all you lazy types who can't bother to read-
Raced an IS300 to 120 twice, won both times.

Nice race. I would've thought that the IS300 would have been faster than you.

Re: Run in with an IS

Yeah, I always had this impression that they were pretty quick. A kid at my ol high school drove one to school all the time. Everyone always use to comment on how fast it was (didn't care too much back then). But, now that you say you can beat one, maybe I'll have to find one myself and see how I can do . Good kill too. I'd like to meet up with your Bimma some day Cassie. Nobody around here that owns one wants to race. Kinda sucks, because I've always wanted to race one. L8...

Re: Run in with an IS

Miami is quite the distance away from Utah. I think by the time I got the Civ there it would break down just as I roll on it town . She's getting pretty old these days. What exactly does he have that he wouldn't mind running me? I couldn't tell what you posted.

Edit: Nevermind, just finally made out what you said. By chance, he wouldn't be boosted now would he ? L8...

IS's are quick. I remember seeing the following:

auto
0-60: 7.1-7.4
1/4mile: 15.5-15.7

manual
0-60: 6.8-7.0
1/4mile: 15.3-15.5

either way, bimmers are good from a roll. good kill.

Re: Run in with an IS

IS300's are overweight. I didn't know a 15.5 was considered quick. Means my Grand Am GT isn't doing too bad.

Nice kill.

well, 15.5's aren't slow. slow would be 16's and up. i guess it's kind of an in between type thing. then again, i'm not riding around in a modified WS6, so my perception might be different.

Yeah my dads 2k Maxima is low 15's and it's quick. I didn't think IS's came in manuals...at least the first ones didn't.

Sorry if my post came across as a "I am faster than thou" post. It wasn't meant to be that way.
Just wouldn't think my Grand Am GT would be classified as quick.

There's quick, like sport sedans. I would consider my VR4 to be fast. Then there's freaking fast, like your WS6. And then there's always retarded like that T80 T/A.
