99 V6 oil light

My wife was driving accross some railroad tracks and oil light came on. She shut it off immediately (I've trained her well). I trailered it home. Dropped the pan and found nothing wrong.
Any suggestions? When I started it light went out and never recurred.

Re: 99 V6 oil light

Was the oil level where it was supposed to be?

Oil was just fine, engine wasn't to operating temperature. I found no restrictions in oil pan or pick up for oil pump.

Re: 99 V6 oil light

Hmm...that's odd. Perhaps it was something to do with the vibrations caused from going over the track. If your oil level is ok, oil filter is still on correctly, and nothing in the pan...then I'd guess you're good.

Re: 99 V6 oil light

Loose connection to the oil pressure sensor or the gauge cluster, maybe?

Yeah, that was my next route. I may even replace the sensor to make sure. I haven't scanned the car since the oil light came on. I already have an egr problem to fix. The light came on for that.
Thanks for the replies.
