98 ex cold air intake
Hey, I've been researching cold air intakes, and I came across the Weapon-R Cold Air Intake. From what I've read, it boasts the most power gainst out of any in the world, and it is in the style of a short ram. I was wondering if anyone has one and knows if this is true, and whether or not I'd need a bypass valve or protective box for it in case it rains. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

i have an off bran SRI , got if for $30 (can be had for less). anyway it wont be more than a .5 or 1 HP diffrence either way.
I live in south west ohio. we get plenty of rain and snow and i have had no problems, aand i have no bypass or cover of any kind. just go with the cheaper off brand intake

i'll second that - i paid 100$ for my SRI, because I didn't know any better; the throttle response improved drastically, but there's really no more power, so it's not going to matter which one you get.
I'd say get a bypass if you live in an area where it floods, but i don't have a CAI, so i could be wrong.

Okay, maybe I should have been more clear. The intake is the Secret Weapon intake, which is a cold air intake but with the size of a short ram. It says it creates the most power of any cold air intake, but with smaller size. Also, does rain affect them? Like, spray from the road during hard rain?

the only way for it to hydro lock is if it is fulls submerged, i believe.

I had a cheap cold air intake and the intake is placed near the ground and whenever i hit a puddle that's when water got water locked. If you get a cold air induction system i suggest you buy a bypass valve, but if you have a short ram you should be ok. I have an aem short ram for 60 bucks...pretty cheap now, look on ebay.

Get a bypass valve and a good filter and you will be fine

ROFL about the bypass valves! I'll never forget when AEM came out with them first, "tested" it with the boss' car. LOL. Couple months later, my buddy and I were flippin through some rag, and saw a recall was placed on em. Only way you'll really need a bypass is if you plan on driving with your front bumper COMPLETELY submerged. I drive around so-cal, and the first time it rained I took the cold-air extension off out of paranoia. Ever since though, forget it, nothing to really worry about. BTW my opinion for best intake, ICE-MAN.
