Putting me into the 12's
i currently have a 95 gst 5sp with a 1g swap. what turbo will best get me into the 12's with a few more mods? its a daily driver so i feel that 12's are good for me. my current mods are:
Act 2600 clutch Act streetlite flywheel custom exhaust with 3' piping no cat intake greddy profec b boost controller gredd auto turbo timer Im on a budget of 700 or less and want a good turbo that will bolt to a 1g or with minimal work. if anyone could help that would be great. and yeah i know i still need FMIC and a walbro 255HP which i have.

Well you are first going to need to upgrade your fuel system(pump injectors(660ccish) something to control the injectors(SAFC2) rewire kit?). And for the turbo I would suggest a EVO III 16G. A killer turbo for the street. Good spool up time and a nice top end power. To plant that kind of power the problem is that you are really going to need slicks and a LSD to get good times with FWD(IMO). Street tires and 300+WHP and FWD just dont mix.

so with stock internals on a 1g and an evoIII16g bolted on, whats the max SAFE boost i can run and also will any of the 16g series turbos bolt right up to a 1g with problems/kits.

I am not sure about the max safe boost. And I am prity sure that the 16g's will bolt right up. But you probly want to get a new manifold beacause 1g's are known for cracking/leaking, I would get a ported one. Check dsmtrader.com I have seem some crazy evo deals.

one more ?. on the 16g series turbos, when do they start to spool and at what rpm do they hit max at. i did a search on it but all i find ar topics on which turbo is better. i know my t25 started at 2500rpm and who knows when it ended.

For a T25 i think after like 6k the boost dives down(i dont know its just a pos turbo). I think i rememer jake saying on his RS-T(evo 3 16g)T he was hitting 26psi at like 3600.

If I wanted 12s in a fwd, I would go bigger than a 16g personally. Not to say it can't be done, but it is more difficult; you will need a very well setup car running high boost, probably cams, a LSD and good suspension setup, etc.

You need to read the DSMtuners forums.com and see what they say about thinking it's easy to get into the low #. I have a shit load of work don't and I bet i'll run a low 14 maybe a 13 if it's cold and i'm on race fuel, with sticky tires.

$700 should be spent on fuel mods. 14b's have slingshot people into the 11's. its all about tuning.
