I got a repeated question i have seen on here but i cant find it to read it. Whats kinda boost will the 4g63t handle with stock internals and the stock side mount and what is a safe amount of boost.Thanks

I wouldnt push much more then about 18 pounds on stock Motor+Turbo...

Stock turbo (t25) won't really do much after 15 psi. That is the max you should probably do on that turbo or risk damaging the turbo. As for the engine, I'm not too sure, I think there was a post asking this same question a few days ago, search for it.

I think the general rule of thumb for max hp on stock internals is 400ish. I have herd people going up as far as 550.

The Good: I ran 17 psi (with spikes way over 20 psi) for 2 months, with just an FMIC & piping + BOV, K&N and dump tube hack. Car was significantly faster than before, to the point where people actually thouht I had upgraded my turbo!

The Bad: Anyway, I blew the turbo (original T25 with 120K miles) to smitherenes after that.

The Ugly: The blades had cracked and dislocated in a few places. The little shaft was at a crazy angle wedged up back. I was very lucky that none of the bits got sucked into the engine.

So...I wouldnt push 15 psi on the stocker... unless the thought of a blown turbo with "shrapnel" inside your motor excites you, haha.

Odd enough, i was pushing 17lbs for quite some time, and bumped it up one on my '99 and never had problems with it... but then again, after about 8k of 18lbs, i got the EVO 16g!

Poeple are running over 30 psi and 500 something whp on stock 6 bolts. Shit, poeple are doing it on 7 bolts now too, despite the smaller rods. The trick is to keep the car tuned well with little to no knock, and not run outrageous timing numbers (excessive ignition advance puts exponentially more stress on the rods).
