Question Wanted tacoma info: :)

I need all the info i can get.

I am interested in getting a tacoma. I would like 4x4 but it is not really needed.

Here is what i would be using it for.

daily driver so higher MPG is better. what engine do i want?

I will also be towing a small boat or trailer every once in a while can all engines handle this? which one would be best?

also can some one explain the models to me?

I would like to be in the 95-99 year range.

Are the 2x4 and 4x4 the same body? Or are they differnt?

any links that are useful would also be great!!

thanks in advance!!

Re: Wanted tacoma info: :)

If you don't need a 4 x 4 it's best to buy a 4 x 2. Initial cost will be less and the 4 x 2 has fewer parts, is lighter and requires less maintenance. The down side is at resale time the 4 x 2 will sell for less than a comprable 4 x 4.

Any of the trucks should tow a small boat, a V6 would be best but you want better fuel mileage.

A regular cab 4 x 2 with a 2.4 engine should give the best fuel mileage.

See this link for a brief Toyota truck history and some information about different models.
