Airbag light on
I have 99 passat 1.8T and in addition to the abs/break light on/blinking, I just got another problem: airbag light came on. I think it happened when I breaked too hard. When I start my car, the airbag light comes on and then goes out for a split second and comes back on. Is there something simple that I can check: fuse or relay?

Re: Airbag light on
What about a crash sensor which might have went forward a little and did not come back when I breaked too hard (Toronto driving habits)?

Passats have alot of problems with the driver steering wheel air bag small harness and spiral spring. There used to be an update where 2 small copper wires were removed to decrease resistance but now the new harness has those removed. Airbag light can also come on when the battery has low voltage.
Brake light switches are a common failure on all vw's and can cause those lights to come on. A scanner will be needed to properly diagnose both problems. |

Re: Airbag light on
Thanks for the reply.
My battery looks new and the engine crancs pretty good too. What do you think is the best path to follow with my airbag issue? Also, what switch for the break are you talking about? |
