The short might be in the ignition switch or you have a huge curent draw maby from the starter .

Re: burned out ignition fuse

I found that when I disconect the ground wire from the ignition coil the fuse no longer blows and I can start the car. I checked it tonight and found that there is .12volts from the unhooked ground wire to ground. It is really weird because the ignition coil is bolted directly to the firewall. Did you manage to get yours sorted out. Thanks |

Re: burned out ignition fuse
on some of the metro's there is a noise supresion capacitor running from the coil to ground, if it shorts that can cause fuse to blow

Re: burned out ignition fuse
no, its bolted to one of the coil hold down bolts i think, look for a 1/2" round metal can looking thing with 1 wire going to it

Re: Re: burned out ignition fuse
Thank you for your help. I did finally manage (I think, hope and pray) that I found the problem. It was a burnt connector in the fuse box. If I can I'll post a pic tomorrow.

I wonder which connector was the culprit...
