Re: Transmission Rebuild

I don't get how people can just learn how to do that shit. Getting it out even. What are those manuals called you can by to work on your car yourself...it's like chotchkys or whatever.?

i'd just buy one. trannies are a tricky thing when it comes to re-building and you can probably buy a different one for just as much as it costs to re-build your other one.

or you can send it in to TRE and have it professionally built. TRE=bulletproof

zwickyj,

If you have never rebuilt a transmission, I would leave it to the pros! Just goto Google and type in rebuilt transmissions and you will get a bunch of hits.

Looks like rebuilttransmissions.com has free shipping and a 3 year, 75,000 mile warranty.

Hope that helps!

Re: Transmission Rebuild

just buy a damn used one, your car is 13years old and the price of a rebuilt one will be equal if not greater to the value of your car. If your non-turbo i would recommend a tranny from a 4g67 (came in some elatra's) they are much cheaper and the gear ratio's are set for faster acceleration since it come from a smaller motor. It will decrease your top speed, but who cares. The 4g67 tranny is a direct bolt on to the 4g63NA.
