My 2001 1.8T Passat (73K)went in for service today due to leaking oil and lagging power on the start. Dealer called and said it was the following:
Bad O2 Sensor - Covered under warranty Cam Shaft Adjustment - valve and seal replacements - not under powertrain warranty. Vaccum Throttle value need to be replaced and excess carbon build up removed. Total cost $1,100. Can anyone help me out to determine if any of the other parts being replaced are covered under the powertrain warranty. Thanks |

I also have a call into the VW advocate line who is going to contact the dealer for specifics. VW is under the assumption that it should have been covered under the powertrain. Not sure if dealer is being honest. The bill for this was about $550. six hours of labor |

First owner the cam adjuster and seals and cam seals are covered to 100k miles.
The o2 sensor is not covered under warranty after 50k. Whats a vacuum throttle valve? do you mean throttle body? |
