what does this mean?
What does this mean and how do i fix it? I went to get my car smogged in California. It passed everything with 0's and 1's but has this code. I have no idea what this code is or how to fix it.
code:P1582 17990 Idle Adaptation At Limit |

Re: what does this mean?
That's a bad code on a '96. It could be alot of things. I believe officially you're supposed to check for oil dilution first & do an oil change. The next check if the oil has been changed recently is the throttle valve controls (elecrtical part) & then goes through a long list of fuel issues, exhaust & intake leaks, O2 sensors and so on.... Most common issue is with the throttle valve control module.
