tie rod end removal, 1997 malibu, how to?

Does anyone have a trick to get the moronic nylon lock nut off of an outer tie rod on one of these cars?

The ball joint just spins in the aluminum, pliers and hammers have had no effect.

Any suggestions other than cutting the stud off a perfectly good outer tie rod?
