Re: Drinking Age

Probably wouldn't make any difference since anyone who wants to will drink anyhow. Just keeps people out of clubs and forces them to drink warm beer in the garage...

I say leave it at 21. The U.S. has probably the most disrespectful and dumbest kids in the world. I mean weather it's 21 or 18 kids are gonna drink no matter what. They'll find a way. I know I did. 21 came faster than i could have imagined. Now that it's come and gone and im now 23, in retrospect I see 21 as a good age.

It won't get changed in our lifetimes. I firmly believe that it should be 18 and not in high school. If they can sign up to be soldier, they should be able to order a beer.

Re: Drinking Age

Yep; agreed on the 18 & military service. I think 18 year olds can drink on military bases if they're in the military.

Re: Drinking Age

How about this as a compromise? You can only drink at the age of 18 legally if you are in the service. That might help recruiters get more people signed up. I can see the adds now. Budwiser will be running add campaigns to recruit new soldiers.

Nah, they're exactly the same as Canadian kids and the drinking age in canada is 19, and 18 in some provinces.

I think 19 is good... 21 is too old. When you're 19 you're done high school (if ur a good student) you're starting College, you're feeling like an adult. So you should be able to drink.... but either way people are gunna do it anyway

True. I guess its just from the people I've witnessed. I think the biggest problem with drinking are the parents, teachers, etc who advocate against it so strongly in the early stages of youth. My parents have always been very open about drinking and never said anything about it being bad. I was always allowed to drink early on. I was limited to a half of a beer or one beer (depending on my age) under supervision of course. I have pictures of me have sips of beer when i was 1 year old. The kids I saw get heavy into drinking in high school were kids of prechers and others whos parents strongly advocated against it completely.

Im 19 years old. Yea I do drink and there are kids that are my age and younger are so f'n dumb when it comes to drinking. This one kid was 16 probably had his license for like 5 months and then one night he was pissed up and wrecked his truck. Drove off the road and put it into some trees. One of my friends told me I should take the blame if the cops come. Im like screw that I dont want my insurance going up cuz of someone else's screw up. I usually give people rides home but when Im drinking and I cant drive I just stay over at someones house or call my mom up. My folks tell me they dont care I drink as long as I dont drive my car. But you got them bunch of idiots that think theyre invincible and nothing will ever happen to them.

Something that's strongly forbidden will be tried eventually. The stories about the preacher's kid are based in fact.

When parents teach their kids to be responsible from an earlier age, things usually go better in the long run.

21 is a good age. I believe that this helps keep some kids a bit more responsible especially if they are pursuing higher levels of education. When you have already invested 3 yrs and around $30k torwards your education, your more unlikely to throw it away (i.e. be responsible) by going to the bars to often. Trust me, I turned 21 a few months ago, and I can tell you from my present experience that it can hurt your GPA if you are not responsible about it.

Abso-fucking-lutely. On top of that i would have slapped this 'friend' in the face for being such a fuckwit. Kid wrecks his car, you take the blame. Nice logic there
