d15 HF Swap Questions

I just have a couple more questions about my 91 HF swap before I buy the engine. I've been studying up on my car for the last few days by reading old posts. All I do with cars is oil and brake changes. But not the drum brakes, but somehow a couple buddies have convinced me that I can swap my own engine. (Blew the old one) So here goes.

1) What engine would be the easiest "plug and play" for my car keeping in mind my limited ability.

I'm looking into a d15b sohc 16v. What, if anything, would I have to modify to make this work? obd0/1, tranny, axles?

2) Should I go Vtec or not? What else would be involved.

I'm not looking to race or anything. just general driving. I commute 30 mins to school and drive my car for work. What do I do you ask, well it's a very glamorous, well paying job.....FINE, I'm a pizza guy!

Anyway, just looking to keep the good mpg and hopefully get er up to 300k.

you can go w/ a d15b2 w/ no problem, should bolt right up, and then go w/ a mpfi swap. or go and buy a d15b v-tec engine for about $500-$700, but you'll need the the ecu p28 i belive, and the harness..check out www.4thgenerationcivic.com

i just did a d15 vtec swap in my crx and i love it now, it has plenty of get up and go thru 3rd gear and 4th and 5th are still gas milage!!!! If you use the HF tranny. I myself would go vtec, you'll think yourself in the long run. I got my motor from www.cjee.com and no matter where you order a motor from expect some broken sensors and stuff but also consider that most all throttle body sensors are interchangeable meaning that the ones on your throttle body will work on the new one, you'll need the p28 ecu, a obd0 to obd1 jumper harness and it's fairly wasy from there. You can use your harness since you are a HF!! But you will have to change a couple of plugs like the injector plugs, dizzy plugs, and have to move a few wires but once you get into it and as long as you do some good research then you shouldn't have to many problems, there are some small things that you will run across. you have to put your old motor mount on the new motor and trim the timing cover to fit but it's really not that big a deal. The only trouble i had w/ that part was the crank pulley coming off, it was a bitch. But there are two wires in the dizzy that can get confusing but if you get it backwards, just swap the two wires around and prob solved. Go w. the d15 vtec, you get more bang for the buck but thats just my opinion some will say go bigger and some will say stay stock but if you are up to the challange of changing out a motor, might as well double your HP from the HF 62HP to the d15 vtec at 130HP. but thats just me.
