90 GTS Questions

OK,

1. What should the normal RPM reading for my car if i driving around 75MPH?

2. I am noticing that when I driving around street bends (Turning Right) I am notice that my car is swaying pretty badly. What can I do to remedy this problem? (springs, shocks and struts?) if so...what brand is recommended?

3. Where is my door light fuse located? Can't seem to locate it.

Re: 90 GTS Questions

i dont know as i dont own a 5sfe nor is my car stock to help aide u but it should be somewhere around 3500-4000 rpm? (can anyone give a better guestimate?)

be a little more specific on swaying as in the car wants to fly to the outside of the turn or it bounces from left to right or what?

the door opening buzzer sound/ curdosy light in in ur engine bay fuse +16 if you loko and theres the row of 6 fuses, 3 on op of 3 it should be on the bottem row in the middle like this

---
-!- it shoudl be the ! oneits a 20 Amp one

Re: Re: 90 GTS Questions

Thanks for your answers first of all.

1. Let me give you more details on the door light situation...when I bought the car the dome light did not work at all. I replaced the 20 Amp fuse in the fuse box next to the battery and that seemed to have cured the dome light problem. When the door switch on the dome light is in the on position and I open the lift gate the sensor works and the door lights turn on, and the door light sensor only works in that mode. I was thinking that there might be a seperate fuse for the door sensors.

2. To answer the swaying problem, I noticed it feels like the car wants to fly off to the other lane, very hard to control the vehicle when it does this. I took the car to Sears Auto Shop and they said that I need to get new shocks and struts. It sometimes feels like the front shocks are loose too... for example today when I was driving to work, I gunned it and the front right wheel felt like it was bouncing out of control. I don't think its a balancing problem cause the car doesn't shake or bounce once in motion.

Please feel free to add anything or any questions to help clear up the description I gave earlier. If anyone can help answer these question please send reply.

Thanks,
van

Re: 90 GTS Questions

1. i have the same problem, its a short somewhere in the line, probably around or near the actual dome piece, or in your doors, in ur case it sound like it has something to do with your door sensors
2. yea thats sounds like ur supension is messed up, id jack it up thoguh and take a lok urself, put it on jackstands then use ur jack put it inder the strut and jack it up and down SLOWLY(so your car dosent falll off the jacks) and see if u can notcie any visual problems

oh and the auto is only a 4 speed so its a lil diffrent, the ratios are alot wider

Thanks 91 ST,

I think that sounds logical, I'll try to open up that switch and see for myself. I hope it is something I can fix by myself.

Do you know what is a good replacement suspension setup that will give good handling plus a smooth ride? Let me know I am currently looking for new suspensions for my 90 GTS. (What brand and how much???)

Thanks
van

Re: 90 GTS Questions

What exactly are coilovers, are they like springs but just adjustable? I've seen them on ebay also but kinda reluctant to buy...

Re: 90 GTS Questions

he means just the coil spring, as in just the spring... but yea meh the dropzone ones are a little bit stiffer than stock, i had them on my car before i got mey eiback ones, and sold them to a friend with a gts, be for warned though the added weight with your gts will make ur car lower than it even says and you could bottem out if you have alot of poeple in ur car and hit even a little pot hole
