Timing Belt
Does anyone know where i can get a good guide to change the timing belt on my buddys 2001 civic 1.7 ex. Thank you

You have to remove the PS pump, alternator, Crankshaft pulley, Drive belts, etc. It is a long process.

There are 2 choices when it comes to manuals, aftermarket & factory. For a timing belt a factory one is not really required because it's pretty straight forward. Most auto parts sell the cheapies Haynes & Chiltons. www.helminc.com for a factory manaul.
You could also go to a Honda dealer and ask if you could get some copies of the pages needed, some will do it & some wont. My best advice - replace the water pump while your in there! Cheap Honda parts - http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ |

heres how to do it
1 . valve cover 2. top timing cover 3. aling timming marks on sprocket 4. drive belts 5. harmonic balancer 6. top driver side motor mount 7. bottom timing cover 8. losen belt adjuster 9. take out timming belt here is what u need honda bond valve cover gasket recomendations replace: water pump belt adjuster when putting back the valve cover gaskets put a small ammount of honda bond at each 90 degree bend other wise u will leak oil takes me just under 2 hours...but for some1 off the street...plan on a all day project |
