Maybe you're still around. Just found this forum today and it looks pretty dead.
Anyway, check out Summit - I got headers for my Javelin there a few years back. I got the dogleg headers, even though I have a 69 with rectangular port heads (yeah, I know, not the right thing to do, but I had no choice since the headers that were on the car when I bought it were shot, and original manifolds are about impossible to find). If Summit doesn't have them, check online at http://www.planethoustonamx.com. Eddie Stakes has a vendor list there with about every known AMC parts house listed. Good luck! |

Re: headers
Call summitt, they have a wealth of AMC headers that they don't list...

Re: headers
Call Edelbrock in Torrance, California and ask for Dennis in the Exhaust Dept. He is their head exhaust engineer and owns several Javelins and AMX's including one of the Breedlove Bonneville cars.
Edelvrock has a new titanium coating that is standard on their headers instead of paint. This "TiTec" reduces underhood heat and lasts indefinitely. Compared to buying bargain headers, having them sandblasted and then ceramic or Jet Jot coated, the price is very competitive. Plus TiTec can take the heat of a new engine break-in, while most ceramics cannot. |

Re: headers
Hedman, Hooker, and Edlebrock...
hedmans are the cheapest...but you'll prolly wanna weld a bead around the ports and get the beltsanded for a better seal...might as well port them while your at it... hookers - uber pricey...and I think they still need flange work...but I keep hearin that they have a better fit... edle's - well...they're shorties...and wtf would want shorties?!

If you lived in California you might have to buy shorties because for many vehicles they are the only headers with a C.A.R.B. number making them smog legal for the street.

Re: headers
shouldn't a 73 model year be exempt by now?
