Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
I have made threads about how my car is slower. My car I bought it like 5 months agoand I gave it a tune up and that car had balls. Every car I raced I would kill. I even raced a gst on a rolling start I would kill him. My car was all stock. His car was a year newer than mine with twice as less miles, a boost controller, exhaust and k&n intake filter. I was surprised and he was surprised.
Well anyways I would alway be flooring it until my car started knocking. It was a small knock at first but I still would be driving it like that. Then one time the car just shut off on me and did not want to start. We towed it back to my place and then the next day i got it to turn on with the same knocking sound. The motor was messed up. So I was selling my gsx like that how it was. There was some guy that came to take the car to his shop to check what was wrong with it so I let him drive it and he did not even get half way when the car just stopped running and did not want to start. What happened to the car at that moment, when he took it, it was the radiator hose that broke off and the engine heated up. And it was not just a little bit that heated up it was alot and melted lots of wires that are connected to the sensors. It was the sensor that is connected to the intake manifold that melted, not all the way. Also the sensor that sends the signal to the coil and another one that is on the tip of the intake manifold. They brought the car back and it was left at my place for like 2 months and then we took it to a shop so they can rebuild the engine. Well everything was rebuiled. I gave it a tune up again bought an alternator, bought a clutch, radiator. Everything that I put made the car run better. Recently I bought just a stock bov because the other one was no good. The only thing I got on the car is k&n filter and hard pipe intake, and msd ignition wires. After I put the hard intake pipe the car would turn off on me sometimes and I would just start it up again, but that would only be if I ride the car for a while or if I floored it all the way. I was racing a cavalier and i took off in 1gear to 6500rpms and in 2nd gear it was going up to like 5000rpms and the car just shut down completely. We all tried pushing it so we can do a roll start, but the car would not start. It would just stutter when i would try to turn it on. We towed it back to my place and the next day we checked it. The sensor that sends sinal to the coil was dirty and we cleaned it up good and the car turned on. We also checked the coil and it was all dirty so we also cleaned it out as well. The car ran alot smoother but I still do not feel the power it had before. I wrote all of this to see what you guys think about it. Sorry cuz its so long but if anybody could help me I would appreciate it. Thankz |

Re: Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
That was hard to read
Could have been the rebuild that messed it up. Same compression?

Re: Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
Probably not. It worked fine before, but not now? Then something is wrong. An exhaust will not help a bad engine. IDK what the problem could be.
Rebuilded = Rebuilt

Re: Re: Re: Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
the only thing different about last time from today is that they did not connect a hose that goes out or in of the inake tube. Theres two liitle one, one that goes to the valve cover and the other one that goes to somewhere like in the bottum of the battery.

Re: Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
you might have shorted them out. you probably should have used an electrical contact cleaner. check the coil and make sure it's sill working correctly and check the wires too.

Re: Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
i had a problem simmilar to that. and it turned out i needed to replace the fuel pump. the car would run but once it was at the high rpms it would start bogging out and shut off. maybe u should check the fuel pump.

Re: Same old problem with a 95 gsx.
If he used electrical cleaner there shouldn't be a chance of it shorting out... it's supposed to be non-conductive....
My question is ... if it was rebuilt .. why are these connectors dirty? shouldn't they be somewhat clean?...You might want to look into using a little di-electric grease on them to help keep dirt out...just don't get the grease to bridge the gap between the pins/posts... As for the non-connected hose... I believe it goes to the evaporative canister which is underneath the battery... there should be 3 hoses all together... the other small one hooked up in front of the intake pipe and another small one that goes to the valve cover and a little bit bigger one that goes to the evap can..... You also said you got a new stock BOV? if it was a 2gen plastic BOV ya just kinda wasted money on a POS I have not once heard anything remotely good about the 2gen bov...except a honduh could use it..lol
