battery dead?

i have a 92 passat and wanted to know if battery is dead or something more serious. the car will start with a boost but after running it for more than a half hour it will not start at all. thanks

If the charge light comes on with the key on (engine not running) & goes out once started then it probably is the battery. Most auto parts chain stores will test it for free, but be careful as they are in the business of selling batteries. I assume you've checked the cable connections.

I ended up replacing the battery and the car runs fine. So far so good.

I have a 1992 passat. I replaced the altinator and the battery, but it still won't hold a charge. Can anyone help
