intercooler piping

I heard about all of you that its better to go to home depot and make urself a intake pipe. Could you be able to the same thing but except to your intercooler piping???

I have tried it with 2 inch abs. The licp in my piping kit I bought was a little long and didn't line up well, so I made myself one using some abs pipe and silicone clamps from lowes. It should work just fine, just make sure to glue or silicone all your joints and maybe if you got creative find a way to put a bead on the pipes to keep them from blowing off, probably some jb weld would work. The pipe held up fine and didn't give many any trouble. Although if you do the uicp, I imagine getting the bov flange to seal and stay using silicone would be a little chalenging, but im sure it can be done Good luck

make sure to get the schedule 80 stuff instead of the schedule 40 (its written on the side of the pipe). schedule 80 is much stronger.

Couldn't you do it with radiator hose? Seems like a real cheap and easy way to do the piping. And you wont have a million couplers so no leaks. Good for routing the piping around the fogs too. No?

well i dont know about that because the hose is smaller than the regular piping so it would just be better to leave the stock one. Even though theres lots of pieces you could just weld it or glue it then sand it down so it will look like a one piece piping.

Im pretty sure it wont, especially since kevin's abs intake pipe hasn't melted I would excpect the same if the abs was used for intercooler piping, only the abs would be pressurised this time, but I still doubt it will melt.

Yes I agree with you about Kevins abs intake, I had one too until I swapped to a 14b (didnt fit anymore). But what I'm trying to say is that the abs intake is before the turbo, meaning it will not get the hot air going through it. But used as intercooler piping after the turbo you will have hot air going through it, which could be a problem.

I'm not saying it wont work but just a thing to think about. And if someone does do this please tell use if it works out.

Ragin asian, I did do it, if you will look at my first post I explain how it worked. I will say that I would prefer to see alluminum there which looks more professional, and like I said before getting the bov flange to seal on the abs pipe may be a little challenging to get it to seal right. I would recomend this mainly in my situation where my licp was messed up and I needed something quick but, there is nothing wrong with it I assure you

Did it help after you did that. Performance. Where could I get the piping to try it out or you guys think its just better to buy it on ebay.

I would not use any type of ABS or PVC after the turbo.
