Hello. I've a Venture 98 & just wanna know how to replace the battery. Seems the battery's all the way underneath with so much on top that I don't wanna mess anything up. Also, should I install factory like AC Delco or any will do? Thanks folks.

Re: Battery Replacement
I just replaced mine on Saturday. Any make of the correct group and size of the battery will do. Usually more expensive batteries have a better warranty and more cold cranking amps but the parts store will be able to provide you with about 3 or 4 that will do in you application.
On my 99 I had to remove the Wiper cover, a tubular croos member, the relay panel (leave the cables connected and move it out of the way after undoing the bolt(s). You then need to unclamp the battery and the battery cables to the battery. Takes about an hour which is longer than a battery should take imo. |

clamps??
Ok so I'm a totall office worker so I don't have much experience in vehicle work. My van I died last week really odly, I drove home to change for the gym, when I got back in my van (10 min later tops) no dice, it clicked and then nothing. All I could hear was the electronics "trying" to work but to no avail. So figuring on logic I figured the battery was dead. I opened up the hood and went to town trying to get through all the crap on top of the battery, I removed the crossbar and I have the fuse box set out of the way while still connected to the wires. I went to disconnect the pos terminal and the whole connector pulled out of the battery, easy enuff to know what the problem is now however I disconnected the neg side and tried to pull up on the battery and that bastage is in there pretty good. I see in this post you say there are clamps on in somewhere, I can't find em but like I said.... I'm a office worker so I wouldn't know em if I saw em heh... any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Battery Replacement
There is a plastic wedge shaped piece that holds the battery down. The bottom of the battery has a little "lip" that sticks out to catch the wedge. There should just be a single bolt on the terminal side of the batter holding it down. Remove that bolt then slide the battery back slightly and it should just lift out.

Re: Battery Replacement
This link provides a step-by-step instructions for removing your battery---->http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...eplace+battery Scroll down to post #4 on the page. From my experience, I probably will not purchase replacement batteries for my vehicles at Wal Mart any longer. I just do not seem to have luck with them, and end up replacing them, sometimes at a pro-rated cost within a year to year and a half. I don't know what it is about their batteries. The problem occured in 3 separate vehicles I own over the span of 3 years. My last battery purchase was at Autozone, and so far so good. And living in NY where the winters are severe,( temps can go as low as -25f with windchills -35to-40f common)I try to buy a larger CCA battery than the manufacturer's reccomendation. So one would think the higher CCA rated batteries would be of better quality, (LOL not at Wal Mart.)
