Testpipe questions....
First of all, what is a test pipe?
Im looking for a pipe to go inplace of my cat but I dont want to weild anything since my welding skill is about a 1 month baby trying to speak. Maybe something that would bolt on to my downpipe and my catback exhaust, along those lines. I know the people at midas wont put a straight pipe on unless I beg and ask and make a deal. I also dont want to spend another 60 on a high flow cat because I would have to take it off when I move to Virginia anyways. What should I do?? thanks

Re: Testpipe questions....
I know that there are test pipes that can bolt on in place of the cat, I have not looked around for our cars or not and I wouldn't know where to get one. I am just pretty sure that they are available.
You should be able to find a small shop that will put one in for you regardless.

The test pipe is as you said, a straight pipe that goes in place of your cat and offers less restriction. Some are made to slip inside the dp and catback, with no bolts, and others are flanged to bolt on just like your cat would. Most are sold for an upgraded exhaust size, something to think about. I'm sure major dsm vendors will work something out for you if you call, I don't remember seeing what you're looking for offered online.
It would be cheaper to have someone custom weld the flanges to a piece of pipe, but I don't know how the laws work. Take it to Midas to make, they don't have to to put it on, you can do that. I'd call with the dimmensions and see, since this would be the cheapest. If they ask what the pipe is for, tell them your lawnmower I don't know why you'd have to take the high flow cat off if you put one on, I hear they pass smog tests and the cursory cop exam. Then again, a hf cat seems like a lot of money to spend on stock exhaust. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Testpipe questions....
I bought an OBX high flow cat off of ebay for my car and it bolted up to the stock exhaust just fine...basically it was a straight pipe.
Ebay price was about $40

Re: Testpipe questions....
Well, I'll be having a 3" exhaust tomorrow. My downpipe is 3" outlet, midas is doing a catback, and my muffler is 3" inlet.
