Question going from auto to standard

im in the process of buying a written off cavalier to rip the guts out of it and make my current cavalier a standard but the only car i can get a hold of is a 2003 ecotec cavalier...i was wondering if a 2003 manual transmission would fit the same as a 2001 transmission would or if they are designed totally different.

Re: going from auto to standard

I use to have it, but then someone decided to hack IE on my computer, so i ditched a few programs and that was one of them. I have AIM or Yahoo always on.

Personally, if you are up for some fun. Ditch the 2200 OHV and swap the whole ecotec engine in there. Many more possibilites with that than with our pushrods. You will need everything out of that car. Guage cluster, all wire harnesses, PCM, Drive shafts, all the pedals from inside the car, clutch fluid resovoir, basically the entire front end under the hood.

well see the thing is i can pretty much do that if i can find a write off thru an insurance agency...but would a 2003-2005 ecotec engine fit in a 2001 the same as a 2001 engine ?...cuz if so then i guess ill just have to find a 2003 and up write off that comes in a standard lol
cuz like the thread says...i hate automatics...no fun in them
