Question wheels and rubber (a few pics)

Im planing on getting a pair of these wheels somtime in the summer, after I save up some extra cash. They come in 18" and 20", im planing on getting the 20". The question I have is how much tire can i fit on these to protect from curbs and potholes (Philly streets suck balls), while still keeping the sweet look of a 20" rim. Can anyone tell what size the tires are on the pic below, or what size come on the Factory SS wheels? Also, how much will a good set of street tires cost? i knwo their not cheap. here is some pics.....

Size: 20x8.5
Offset: 19
Backside: 5 1/2

here is a pic of them on a SS...

Re: wheels and rubber (a few pics)

you are going to want to keep the same diameter you have now. there are several web sites with calculators to figure the same diameter using different sized wheels and tires. unless you are planning to recalibrate your computer to accommodate the new wheel and tire size.

I like the look of 275/45's. Plenty of sidewall to keep a decent ride as well as curb checks. However, there will be quite a bit of distance b/w the top of the tire and bottom of the fender. I think a 265/50 or 265/55 would look nice as well.

How much will you be letting your factory wheels go for after you get the new ones?

Re: wheels and rubber (a few pics)

My tire size is 295/45R20 with Toyo Proxes S/T The tires were about $200 each...not bad considering what they used to cost a few years back. The tire height compared to my factory height is within an inch. They ride good, not too stiff. I would say (with out looking) I have about 4in of sidewall

I will probably be holding on to them for the winter months.

Re: wheels and rubber (a few pics)

since i have some pics up...what does everyone think of these rims? nice looking, ugly? all oppinions are welcome. I wasent really interested in getting chrome wheels, plus i like the classic/ sporty look they have, sort of like an old pair of cragers. plus i think the magnesium grey will look good with my paint.

Re: wheels and rubber (a few pics)

If I hadn't gotten a great deal on my wheels I would have went with a teflon/black powder coat wheel. I think that the ones you have pictured will look better on your truck than the SS.
