00 se exhaust

ight i guess first off you need to know that i know NOTHING about exhaust. and it really pisses me off sometimes. but anyway, i got an 00 ford focus 2.0 dohc zetec with a short ram intake, 65mm tb from focus central, and i am lookin at goin with an exhaust. but i dont know what brand to go with and all that good stuff, i was hopin somebody could help me out.

like the big thing that confuses me is i was lookin at a magnaflow cat back system on ebay, and and then they sell all these other mufflers on there. so im just like whats the point, besides the sound. anyways im rambling and if it helps out, im goin for power gains, and i feel stupid for not knowing about this stuff...

Re: 00 se exhaust

We all have to start somewhere
There are a few options for a Focus exhaust (Zetec)...
First off, I wouldn't waste my money on those cheap mufflers on eBay...they won't do a thing for your car. The only way to go is with a full catback exhaust (meaning it replaces the entire exhaust system from the catalytic converter to the muffler) as this will provide a complete system that works well together. The pipes are larger and less restrictive, and work well with the muffler. Depending on your budget, the best route to go IMO, is either a Magnaflow or Borla exhaust. Both are full stainless steel (a big plus, especially if you live in the rust belt) and provide the best gains for the Zetec Focus. The Borla provides slightly higher gains, but also costs up to $100 more then the Magnaflow depending on where you get it. If you go to the manufacturer's sites, then you should be able to get dyno graphs to give you a good idea of the gains you can expect. Beyond that, it's really a matter of the sound you prefer. Another option is Focussports (focussport.com) which provides similar gains, and costs about the same. Any other questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Re: 00 se exhaust

Yeah...if budget isn't an issue, then it really comes down to sound, since both exhausts provide about the same gains.
