rebuild Q

in your opinion, to be at 350 whp what all is need to be replaced to have a daily driven ka-t.
i was thinking pistons, HG, honing, main and rod bearings. maybe shotpeen the rods, i dont have the money to buy new ones.

Re: rebuild Q

how much would all that cost you??? You maybe interested in just getting a crate motor from boost-designs. SInce you got the mani and dp already im sure they would take off the price of that from the engine since it comes with it.

i am not too smart but my opinion- rods will be fine. i wouldnt be comfortable unless i did all gaskets, timing chain, oil pump, water pump, radiator and therm. too. because thats a lot of hp

Re: rebuild Q

yea i was thinking the rods would hold it out too. But being on the safe side is never a bad idea. Id rather have a fully rebuilt engine on 5 pounds then a bad ass psi monster with minimal internal work.

Re: rebuild Q

Pistons, main and rod bearings, gaskets, and then whatever you feel like doing while you have the engine out. Stock HG will do 20+psi.

For the oil pump, rebuild it and shim it.

Re: rebuild Q

Phat KA-T also has a crate engine, but it's 75% more, is it rly worth it? Cause that doesn't include mani and dp, the BD engine comes with them.

no i dont think its worth it for the crate engine. there have got to be easy sources for good ka's no matter where you live pretty much. so i cant see paying that much. just dont give up on finding an actual 240 that comes with it.
